Every tourist can apply the ETA prior to their visit to Sri Lanka.

How can I renew my tourist visa ?

1. There are four types of tourists visa extensions:
   1. ETA (Visa obtained through Electronic Travel Authorization system) (On payment basis)
       
   2. 30 days tourists visa (On payment basis) (Obtained before - 27 September 2024)
       
   3. 30 days free tourist visa for seven nationals (On payment basis)
      (China, India, Russia, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia)
       
   4. 06 months tourist visa and 06 months business visa (No payment) (Obtained before - 27 September 2024)
       
2. The above tourists visa categories can be extended as follows:
   1. Tourists visa obtained through  ETA can be extended online https://eservices.immigration.gov.lk/vs/login.php  or by visiting head office of Department of Immigration and Emigration, Battaramulla.
       
   2. 30 days tourist visa extension can be obtained on online https://eservices.immigration.gov.lk/vs/login.php  or by visiting head office of Department of Immigration and Emigration, Battaramulla.
       
   3. Extension for 30 days free tourist visa for the seven nationals (China, India, Russia, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia) can be obtained online https://eservices.immigration.gov.lk/vs/login.php  or by visiting Department of Immigration and Emigration head office, Battaramulla.
       
   4. 06 months tourist visa and six months business visa can be extended 60 more days by dedicating  the double entry facility. This extension can be obtained only online by accessing https://eservices.immigration.gov.lk/OnlineVisa/pages/visaextension/visaextension.xhtml

What are the documents I need to extend the visit visa ?

Tourist visa

1. Return air ticket.
2. Address and the telephone number of the place of accommodation.
3. The application along with the photograph of the applicant.
4. Valid Passport.

* It is compulsory for the applicant to be present to apply and to collect the visa. (Those who wish to submit applications at the Department of Immigration and Emigration Head Office only).

What are the other conditions applicable to renewal of my tourist visa ?

1. Your intended stay in Sri Lanka should end at least two months before the expiry date of your travel document.
    
2. Children under 12 years are required to extend their tourist visa by paying appropriate visa extension fee if they stay in Sri Lanka more than thirty days from their initial arrival date.
    
3. Double entry facility for tourist visa are only available during the first 30 day period from their initial arrival date.
    
4. The above mentioned double entry facility will automatically be cancelled if the visa extension requested/ obtained during the first 30 day period from the initial arrival date.
    
5. Extensions of tourist visa obtained by paying applicable visa extension fee will be automatically cancelled on the departure during the extended visa period and new tourist visa has to be obtained to arrive Sri Lanka again.
    
6. Please make sure that you apply tourist visa extension online via correct web link (Click here) and well before your current visa expires.  Application for tourist visa extension via other websites shall not be considered as claiming for visa extensions.
    
7. If you are unable to apply tourist visa extensions via appropriate website or if you have not received any response even if your online application were successful. Please visit Department of Immigration and Emigration head office Battaramulla within next three working days with your passport and photograph.

Please note that tourist (Business visa) cannot be extended online.
